This is a poster I made as a personal project in appreciation of one of my favorite albums of all time, Richard D. James Album by Aphex Twin, released in 1996. This album is a wild ride through experimental electronics, and I chose to portray that sense of chaos in this poster with an unconventional layout of overset and stretched text. The image of his face is the album cover split in two with a half-tone filter applied. I also borrowed the Aphex Twin logos, which were originally created by Paul Nicholson.
I knew I wanted to split the album cover in two and show all the album information on the poster, but aside from that, I went into Adobe Illustrator with no plan, which was intentional. I wanted to represent chaos and eccentricity by throwing caution to the wind and made decisions for the poster as they came to me. Where text was placed and how all the items were arranged and distorted was completely up to any whim I had while making this poster. In the end, I did slightly change my original positioning of objects according to the grid I added to the image, but aside from that, I chose to keep it pretty close to how it came out during this process. I recommend any viewers who enjoy the look of this poster to listen to the album.
